n electrical short circuit is being blamed for a fire that burned through the house of Bambang Soesatyo, the House of Representative speaker, in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Sunday night. 

“There were no casualties,” Duren Sawit Police chief Comr. Parlindungan Sutasuhut told tribunnews.com on Monday, adding that the short circuit happened in one of the bedrooms. 

A recreation room and a dining room were reportedly the most damaged parts of the house. 

The blaze was reported at 11:27 p.m. to the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, which deployed 11 pumper trucks to the house and extinguished the fire in about an hour.

Personnel with the Jakarta Police and the House’s Internal Security were also at the scene. (fac)
