T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is questioning 14 local leaders in Jambi province after scrutinizing their wealth through the electronic wealth reporting (e-LHKPN) system.

“The questioning will take place from today until Wednesday,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said in a statement on Monday.

The 14 local leaders include Batanghari Regent Syahirsah, Kerinci Regent Adirozal, Sungai Penuh Mayor Asafri Jaya Bakri, Muarojambi Deputy Regent Bambang Bayu Suseni, Batanghari Deputy Regent Sofia Joesoef, Bungo Regent Mashuri, Tebo Regent Sukandar, Sarolangun Deputy Regent Hilal Latif Badri, Jambi Mayor Syarif Fasha, Sungai Penuh Deputy Mayor Zulhelmi and Merangin Deputy Regent Abdul Khafidh.

Syahirsah, the regent of Batanghari, said the questioning was routine as the KPK conducted it with state administrators annually.

The e-LHKPN system was launched in 2017 by the antigraft body to facilitate officials in reporting their wealth.

“The KPK wants to clarify their wealth. If some unreported information is found about them, we will scrutinize them right away,” Febri said.

In December last year, former Jambi governor Zumi Zola Zulkifli was sentenced to six years behind bars after the Jakarta Corruption Court found him guilty of accepting gratuities and channeling bribes to provincial legislative council members in transactions related to the deliberation of provincial budgets.
