Tour de Indonesia: Stage 3 winner Culey dances across finish line
Australia's Marcus Culey overtook Indonesian Abdul Soleh of KFC Cycling team, who had led a pack of nine cyclists, to complete the 195.9 km route, the longest stage of this year’s tour, in a time of 4:15:35.

aving broken ahead of the pack over the last kilometer of stage three of the 2019 Tour de Indonesia, Australia's Marcus Culey celebrated victory by taking his hands off the handle bars and dancing as he cruised across the finish line at Jember Square in East Java.
"My friend and me were talking about the dance a month or so ago. I promised [my friends] that if I won the stage I would do it," Culey of Sapura Cycling Team told journalists after the race. "I came to this race last year, so it was [my] target to win a stage this year."
On the closing stretch of the stage, Culey broke away from the leading pack of nine cyclists that had made an attack from the 160th kilometer. With the stage beginning with a downhill stretch, the crowd of cyclists began to separate out early on.
“On the final stretch [cyclists from] Kinan and Protouch attacked. I was able to ride away from them toward the finish to win on my own,” Culey said.
Culey overtook Indonesian Abdul Soleh of KFC Cycling team, who had led the pack of nine cyclists, to complete the 195.9 km route, the longest stage of this year’s tour, in a time of 4:15:35.
South Africa's Rohan Du Plooy trailed Culey, finishing 32 seconds behind in second place.
However, Du Plooy dominated the sprints, winning all three sprint races in stage three.
Yudai Arashiro of Japan’s Kinan Cycling team took third place on the podium.
Abdul and Odie Purnomo Setiawan of PGN Cycling team were the two fastest Indonesians in the stage, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Australia’s Angus Lyons, who won Monday’s opening stage, took the green jersey from Ryan Roth of Canada as the leader in the general individual classification. Lyons, who rides for Oliver’s Real Food Racing team, has recorded a time of 12:05:47 across the three stages.
Muhammad Abdurrohman of KFC cycling team, with a total time of 12:12:01, remains the leading Indonesian cyclist.
