Dems tap Agus Yudhoyono as deputy chairman, possible minister candidate
In addition to making Agus a deputy chairman, the party also appeared to endorse Agus as one of its most qualified cadres should President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo agree to include the Dems in his ruling coalition.

Democratic Party chairman and former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has appointed his eldest son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, as one of the party’s deputy chairman.
In his new position, Agus has now joined the party’s senior politicians on the party’s central executive board.
He joins the party’s other deputy chairpersons, including Syarief Hasan, retired Army Lt. Gen. Cornel Simbolon and Nurhayati Assegaf.
Party executives confirmed on Friday that Agus, a former military officer, had been appointed as one of the Dems deputy chiefs after his duty as the party’s joint election command (Kogasma) chief ended following April’s election.
Ferdinand Hutahaean, the Dems’ advocacy and legal division head, said the party was currently waiting for a legal process concerning the change of the party’s organizational structure to be concluded.
“[Agus’ appointment] began in August and we are now waiting for a legal process at the Law and Human Rights Ministry to be concluded,” Ferdinand said.
