hinese Vice President Wang Qishan paid a courtesy call on President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin separately in Jakarta on Sunday evening after their inauguration.

The Foreign Ministry’s director for East Asia and the Pacific, Santo Darmosumarto, said on Monday that the meetings conveyed hope about the two sides pushing bilateral ties and the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia.

"Vice President Ma'ruf brought up the President's vision for the next five years, and hoped China could support the realization of the vision through a partnership in infrastructure, human resources development and investment," Santo told The Jakarta Post over the phone.

Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Monday that Wang conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm congratulations and best wishes for the inauguration, and that China and Indonesia were good neighbors, good friends and good partners.

"With both being major developing countries in Asia and also in the world, the China-Indonesia relationship carries a significance that transcends the bilateral scope," added Wang as reported by Xinhua.
