A

community health center in West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has been actively disseminating information about COVID-19 to several villages in the Kuwus Barat district.

Waepitak Community Health Center chief Bernadus Jemahu said the health center was trying to help spread information about the coronavirus and how to prevent it.

“We’ve been posting pamphlets and brochures about the transmission and prevention of COVID-19 in churches and village offices,” Bernadus told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

He said that in addition to putting the posters on the church entrance, the health center had made an appeal to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 after a Mass. Medical staff from Waepitak Community Health Center also went to villages to spread the information.

Santo Josef Freinademetz Wajur Church Pastoral Council chair Fransiskus Guntur confirmed that the church had teamed up with the community health center to distribute COVID-19 information to rural areas of East Manggarai.

“Yesterday, two medical staff members of Waepitak Community Health Center printed and posted several pamphlets made by the Health Agency. This is to ensure that the people get the correct information rather than hoaxes on social media,” he said. (aly)
