eading Southeast Asian superapp Grab has collaborated with Good Doctor, the Health Ministry and the Yogyakarta Health Agency to establish the Grab Vaccine Center to support the second wave of its vaccination program.
Running from Sept. 8 to 11, the Grab Vaccine Center is located at the Jogja Expo Center, successfully vaccinating 8,000 recipients as of Sept. 10, including the disabled, abdi dalem (royal servants), the elderly, as well as workers from the tourist and transportation sectors.
Since February this year, Grab and Good Doctor have been the Indonesian government’s first private-sector partner in supporting the national vaccination program through technology, helping to distribute vaccines to more than 150,000 members of the general public and driver partners in 54 cities and regencies to date.
During an official visit to the Grab Vaccine Center, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his appreciation for the public and everyone involved in the vaccination program. The President was joined by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Yogyakarta Governor Hamengku Buwono and Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih.
In collaboration with the Yogyakarta administration, the Grab Vaccine Center Yogyakarta uses a technological approach to provide a more efficient and comfortable experience for vaccine recipients, from the pre-registration process and vaccination schedule to pre-screening, as well as the registration process through the GrabHealth service as supported by Good Doctor’s digital infrastructure.
To facilitate recipients with disabilities, the Grab Vaccine Center provides a dedicated entrance and queue, access for wheelchair users and a disabled-friendly toilet. Visitors with disabilities can also be accompanied by Difabel Tanggap Bencana (DIFAGANA), a sign language interpreter to accommodate deaf recipients and a special Difabike shuttle service for the disabled powered by GrabGerak, the first ojek (motorcycle taxi) service to serve the disabled and general public with specially trained drivers.
During the official presidential visit, Grab Indonesia president Ridzki Kramadibrata expressed his gratitude for the occasion.
“I would like to thank President Joko Widodo for coming over to observe Grab Vaccine Center’s second phase in Yogyakarta. I would also like to express my appreciation for the health workers and committee who have given their all for this event,” he said.
“The first phase of Grab Vaccination Center ran successfully from June 14 to 17. The second phase of our vaccine center will be held safely, in halal terms, and utilizing the available resources and technology. Grab Vaccine Center targets the disabled for the program by providing easy access and a range of facilities. We hope that we can create herd immunity through the vaccination center so that we can also support the local economy.”
Good Doctor Technology Indonesia managing director Danu Wicaksana said that Good Doctor was always ready to be the government’s partner in the national vaccination program.
“We are aware of the importance of accelerating COVID-19 vaccination to support Indonesia’s recovery. At Grab Vaccine Center, we utilize the registration and pre-screening features that can be accessed through the Grab and Good Doctor app to reduce crowds and minimize cancelations and postponements at the vaccination location,” he said.
