A contingent of national leaders with proven track records, working toward shared objectives under the helm of Prabowo Subianto, can lead the incoming government to succeed in achieving the Indonesia Gold 2045 vision for the welfare of all Indonesians.
resident-elect Prabowo Subianto will take over the national leadership from President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Oct. 20, and is expected to announce his cabinet lineup shortly afterward.
The outgoing defense minister, who has said his government will continue Jokowi’s administration in principle, is very fortunate to have enough time to prepare his administration after winning the Feb. 14 election.
Published in January, the Global Risk Report 2024 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) has assessed the top risks facing the world in the next two years as: misinformation and disinformation, extreme events, societal polarization, cyber insecurity, interstate armed conflict, lack of economic opportunity, inflation, involuntary migration, economic downturn and pollution.
If we extend the horizon to the longer term, the list for the next 10 years will not be very different; only the focus will be greater on the environment and artificial intelligence. The global environment and risks are very relevant to the broad strategy of the incoming president, particularly the more complicated issues of cybersecurity, divided society and rising tensions in the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific.
The nation hopes that when Prabowo’s five-year term ends in 2029, Indonesia will be in a much better state in terms of economy and welfare, national security, democracy and human rights. Prabowo and his team are now forming his administration, from the cabinet to other strategic positions in the government.
As a retired army general and drawing on his experience in the current cabinet, Prabowo will always adhere to the principles of national leadership recruitment, meaning that he will put the nation first.
The process of forming the national leadership is not easy, because it is related to the available human resources. What I mean by national leadership is not only the president, but also his entire team. They are charged with realizing the national strategic goals for the next five years until 2029.
