Mahathir Mohamad joins Instagram

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has finally joined social media site Instagram by posting a couples photo.

The former prime minister and Pakatan Harapan chairman launched his account chedetofficial by posting a photo of his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and him laughing together.

The account which was opened on Thursday (March 15) has gained 10,800 followers as of 12pm.

"Today, I am starting my Instagram account with a picture of me and Hasmah. My wife of 62 years who has always been by my side.

"As doctors, laughter is indeed the best medicine," he said as a caption to his photo which has garnered 5,204 likes and 642 comments.

Instagram user wcmjoe welcomed Dr Mahathir to the world of Instagram.

julietalbertbuso.az said the couple was "so sweet".

"You both are so cute and adorable," she said.

She also wished the couple good health and long life.

Another user mohdmawi62 also called them an ideal couple, adding that he was jealous of the happy couple.

Dr Mahathir has verified accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
