View all search resultsState-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has discharged all the ministry’s Echelon I officials in a restructuring effort to improve bureaucratic efficiency in accordance with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s mission.
Publicly listed state telecommunication giant PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) plans to invest in additional data centers in the country as a facilitator for clients with big data needs. Construction will only commence next year but Telkom is already acquiring plots of land.
“A superholding may not be the best option. Look at the performance of Temasek and Khazanah. They’re also having problems in the latest economic conditions. We will try to look out for a new mechanism and study the developments,” Jokowi said on Wednesday.
It would be disingenuous to conclude that after only four instances of troubles affecting state-owned companies, President Jokowi’s whole economic agenda is in trouble, especially knowing that some of these firms are still making profits and contribute to the economy.
