Amid an increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the capital, a doctors association is calling on Jakartans to stay at home during the Christmas and New Year holidays to prevent a further spike in cases.
According to IDI data, which was released on Saturday, the total figure comprised 192 doctors, 14 dentists and 136 nurses. The deceased doctors were 101 general practitioners (including four professors), 89 specialists (seven professors) and two residents.
The recent death of Andrianto Purnawan, the head of the Indonesian Medical Association’s (IDI) public participation acceleration team for COVID-19 mitigation, adds to the rising number of medical personnel who have succumbed to the coronavirus.
