Two Garuda Indonesia flight attendants, Vera and Ninik Septinawati, have received awards from Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi for taking the initiative to help an elderly passenger get off the plane on a Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta flight on Saturday.
The Transportation Ministry is planning to implement a ferry service to Thousand Islands using vessels owned by state-owned ship operators PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) and ASDP Indonesia Ferry in response to a recent fatal accident involving the KM Zahro Express ferry, which killed 23 people.
The Transportation Ministry’s research and development department’s program for next year will mostly touch on the feasibility and quality of Indonesia’s transportation infrastructure with hopes that results would positively impact the ministry’s policies.
