inland's flag carrier launched a maiden flight from Singapore to Helsinki on Monday on what is said to be the fastest way to reach Europe from Singapore with a flight duration of only 11 hours and 30 minutes.
Finnair uses the brand new Airbus A350 XWB on this route, an aircraft that reportedly consumes 25 percent less fuel than the rival Boeing 777.
As reported by kompas.com, the carrier became the first European airline to conduct a direct flight between Asia and Europe with the A350 XWB, which entered the market last year.
The aircraft boasts a “full-Finnish experience” in terms of design, on-board meals and unique interior lighting that is able to project the Northern Lights aurora phenomenon.
Finnair currently has a total of 19 Airbus A350 in operation. (mra/kes)
