View all search resultsndonesia still needs 30 million airline seats to reach the target of 20 million foreign tourists by 2019, said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya on Thursday.
"Currently only 20 million airline seats are available, which is only enough to cater to 12 million foreign tourists. Thus for the next three years, we will lack 10 million seats, or 3.3 million seats per year," said Arief in Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com.

The ministry is currently cooperating with state-owned airport operators Angkasa Pura I (AP I) and Angkasa Pura II (AP II), as well as state air navigation firm Airnav Indonesia to increase tourist visitor numbers to the archipelago.
AP I president director Danang S. Baskoro said flight hours would be increased in airports run by the company. "We will monitor which flight slots we can increase. In Bali, for example, requests from large aircraft will be prioritized; Lombok can cater to smaller airplanes." (mra/kes)
