nticipating an upsurge in the number of passengers during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, Garuda Indonesia has announced plans to offer daily flights from Timika to Manado starting on Dec. 9.
The national flag carrier currently flies three times a week from Timika in Papua to Manado in North Sulawesi via Sorong using an ATR aircraft with a capacity of 96 seats.

The airline's sales and service manager in Timika, Novian, told Antara news agency on Monday that although the demand for such a route approaching the end of the year has increased, the ticket prices have remained stable.
Timika-Sorong tickets are priced at Rp 1.6 million (US$119), whereas direct Timika-Manado tickets are sold for Rp 2.5 million. (mra/kes)
