he Indonesian Embassy in Bulgaria has partnered with the Tourism Ministry to conduct a familiarization trip (famtrip) for Bulgarian journalists to Bali and Yogyakarta, a move that aims to increase the awareness and brand image of Indonesian tourism.
The participants are encouraged to write stories about the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan and tourist attractions in Bali, as well as post on their social media accounts.
Slated for March to June, the famtrip will take participants to explore five cities in the archipelago. The ministry previously organized famtrips for French tour operators and travel agents to Sumatra in April.

“Yogyakarta is a city that is very rich in culture and history. I believe most of [the journalists] were not familiar with Java Island before and this kind of activity is very effective to raise the awareness of Indonesia's tourism,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia, Sri Astari Rasjid.
Astari added that the Indonesian Embassy was very keen to have more partnerships with the Yogyakarta administration in the future. “There will be an Asian Festival at the embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria, in July, featuring performances of traditional dances and artworks by artists from Yogyakarta. An Indonesia festival will also be held by the end of this year,” she said. (kes)
