runei Darussalam's national flag carrier Royal Brunei Airlines is set to open up a new route from Bandar Seri Begawan to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), this year.
The plan is reportedly connected to the fact that NTB won numerous halal awards last year, including the World Halal Tourism Award 2016 and the best halal honeymoon destination for Sembalun village.

“Royal Brunei currently has three routes to Indonesia, namely to Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar. If all goes well, Lombok will be the fourth destination,” said the airline's executive general manager Brett McDougall.
Since Lombok is an international airport, the carrier is also considering opening up more international routes from Lombok, such as to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and to China.
“We are also open to flying from Lombok to Europe,” McDougall added. (kes)
