Enrekang in South Sulawesi is the latest regency to adopt the Tourism Ministry’s tourist village program.

“The government has instructed that all regencies form their own tourist village, thus we’re going to build one in Enrekang,” said head of Enrekang Empowerment and Village Agency Arifin Bando.

Three districts have registered for the program, namely Bambapuang village in Anggeraja district, North Benteng Alla village in Baroko district and Batu Mila village in Maiwa district.

Bambapuang village is known for its mountain of the same name that stands at 1,100 meters above sea level. Meanwhile, the North Benteng Alla village is famous as the producer of Arabica coffee.

“Some foreign companies purchase coffee from North Benteng Alla village,” said Arifin.

Batu Mila village also offers many tourist attractions, such as Batu Mila waterfall, Massenrempulu botanical garden and Laburang Gallang hot spring.
