intan island in Riau will soon welcome a water villa resort, which will feature bungalows “floating” on the water several meters from the coastline.
PT. Grand Wie Sukses (GWS) has announced that it will invest Rp 3.5 trillion (US$263.27 million) for the project, which will be developed in Bintan’s Trikora area. The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held in July this year.
The development will include two hotels, the Avara Resort and Mangata Water Villa.
“Avara will be built on 40 hectares of land located along the coastline, while Mangata is the water villa project that will be built on top of the water and will occupy the same area as Avara,” said GWS CEO Lily Oey.

“The budget needed to build Avara Resort is about Rp 1.4 trillion, while the water villa will need about Rp 1.1 trillion,” she added.
The water villa will integrate miniatures of the seven wonders of the world. Both the water villa and resort are aiming for the general market of local and international tourists.
These two projects are predicted to generate 3,000 jobs for residents, accommodating locally owned small and medium-sized enterprises (UKM), Lily said. (asw)
