hangi Airport on Monday revealed the interior of the new Terminal 4 - set to begin operations in the second half this year - for the first time.

It posted a series of photos on Facebook, which showed T4's departure and arrival halls, as well as transit and boarding area.

The departure hall, for instance, is a vast space devoid of columns, and has a high ceiling with petal-shaped skylights to allow natural light into the terminal.

Greenery is a key feature - its greenwall facade on the exterior consists of 16,000 plants, while the arrival hall also has a green theme.

Changi Airport's last update on T4 in May said that more than 80 retail outlets will be spread over 16,000 sqm, describing the terminal as a shopping and dining haven featuring popular brands, innovative concepts and unique experiential zones.

Two core duty-free categories - Liquor and Tobacco and Cosmetics & Perfume will combine and operated in a single zone, while there will also be a heritage zone inspired by Peranakan shophouses.

Retails shops opening their first outlet in Changi include paper maker Moleskine, British retailer WHSmith and home-grown footwear label PAZZION.

The Straits Times reported in March that the T4 will be Singapore's first checkpoint with multiple biometric capabilities.
