hey say “a man is not an island” but President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is apparently so admired that he has had an island named after him.
The regency of Selayar, South Sulawesi, has reportedly named an island "Jokowi Island" as a token of appreciation toward the president.
“This is our form of appreciation. It isn’t merely a tribute, the name also catches tourists’ attention,” said Selayar Islands Regent Basli Ali.

Regarding the island's development, the administration is set to partner with a business consortium to build a five-star hotel on Jokowi Island. The telecommunications network is currently being set up and will be directly connected to the neighboring regency, Jeneponto.
Apart from Jokowi Island, the Selayar Islands still has around 130 virgin islands.
Jokowi reportedly plans to visit the island in the near future. He is scheduled to visit Makassar, the capital city of South Sulawesi, to commemorate National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas) on July 12. (kes)
