Riau tourism ambassadors to be crowned at Bujang Dara Riau 2017 pageant

iau Province is set to pick its tourism ambassadors at the Bujang Dara Riau 2017 pageant that is being held on September 22 at SKA Co Ex, Riau.

“The total participants are 25 couples. Twelve are representatives from city or regency, while the other 13 are the result of a general selection. There were also lecturing sessions from September 13 until 22,” explained Riau tourism department head Fahmi Usman.

The chosen Bujang and Dara will become the tourism ambassadors who possess creative and intelligent characteristics. One of their jobs is to promote Riau tourism on their social media.

Fahmi said that the province is currently focusing on tourism, Riau that is very rich in Malay culture has the potential to attract Malaysian tourists who share the same cultural background

“We need an icon who can constantly promote Riau as the homeland of Malay culture,” added Fahmi.

The crowning night will feature popular singers such as Mulan Jameela, David Flamenco, Micky AFI and music from Riau Rhythm Chambers Indonesia. The show will be hosted by Vivien Anjani, the third runner-up of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2014. (asw)
