ndonesian Charms Generation (GenPI) Central Java (Jateng) chapter invites bloggers to spend their weekend from Oct. 29 – 30 in a Blogger Camp event at Radja Pendapa Campa, Segrumung Village, Central Java.
“So far 30 bloggers have signed up for the event,” told GenPI Jateng coordinator Shafigh Pahlevi Lontoh.
On Sunday morning Karetan Market will be held from 06:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The market is a form of sociopreneurship that combines both online and offline activities. In the Karetan Market, members of GenPI who are active on social media will be involved in empowering the local economy by promoting the market on social media.
At the Karetan Market, an array of local dishes will be highlighted such as such as pecel (boiled vegetables with peanut sauce), tengkleng (mutton soup), grilled squid and other traditional snacks.

Additionally, other GenPI branches located in different parts of Indonesia such as Yogyakarta, Lombok, Sumbwa, South Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh are also in preparation to hold similar culinary events that will highlight on their respective traditional foods.
Tourism minister Arief Yahya said that GenPI and GenWI (Wonderful Indonesia Generation) are communities that have creative values in them, with a work span to both online and offline worlds, promoting tourist destinations, calendar of events and tourism policies on social media while also holding events such as the Karetan Market.
“That’s why both GenPI and GenWI are the two forces that drive the economy, creating crowds and pushing for tourism promotion,” said tourism minister Arief Yahya. (asw)
