ourism Ministry together with state-owned forestry company Perhutani recently launched a new eco-tourism brand called Canopy in two locations namely Kawah Putih Ciwidey, West Java and BanyuNget, Trenggalek, East Java on Nov. 11.
The two locations have been set to be the pilot project for the Canopy brand, which will bear Perhutani's mission to provide more nature-based entertainment for children with a futuristic touch
In the future, Canopy will be implemented in other Perhutani-owned tourist sites.
Moreover, the launching of the new brand is part of stage four of Perhutani’s business transformation that includes revitalization for existing businesses and new business development like the plan to build Eco theme Park on 600 hectares of forest land in Bogor. The first stage of The Eco theme Park project is valued at one billion dollars.
Tourism minister, Arief Yahya said,"Conservation is important, however, there are two aspects that must be considered; the cultural value, as well as the commercial value." (asw)
