ndonesian Embassy in Qatar has obtained an Air Service Agreement (ASA) with Qatar Airways. The agreement says that the airline that won the tile of World’s Best Airlines in 2011 and 2012 is going to fly to Surabaya, Medan, Batam and Manado from Doha, Qatar.
“We still don’t know when it’s going to happen, but we’ve already made this ASA agreement,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar M. Basri Sidehabi.
“Qatar Airways chose these four destinations because they suit the Middle Eastern market,” Basri added.
Surabaya has Sunan Ampel, Batu in Malang and Bromo Tengger Semeru, while Medan is home to Lake Toba.
Meanwhile, Batam is only 30 minutes away from Singapore and has recently been gaining popularity. This December until March 2018, Batam will welcome charter airplanes from Korea.
Over in Manado, this city boasts Bunaken National Park and Tomohon and has been visited by thousands of Chinese tourists.
The data from Passenger Exit Survey 2016 shows that the total spending of tourists from Qatar can reach up to US$1,330 per visit and they usually take longer vacation than other tourists. (kes)
