Cristiano Ronaldo named American Tourister brand ambassador

Celebrated footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the global brand ambassador of luggage brand American Tourister.

elebrated footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the global brand ambassador of American Tourister, a luggage brand owned by Samsonite.

The Real Madrid star, nicknamed "CR7", was selected for his lifestyle, which is in line with the brand.

“Ronaldo is a great achiever, he has won the Ballon d’Or five times, he’s energetic and not easily satisfied,” said Samsonite Indonesia director Ratih Darmawan Gianda on Monday during a press conference in Jakarta. “He also likes to travel, whether to a match or for personal [travel],” she added.

Ronaldo has already appeared in a television campaign in which he features alongside the Curio, the  luggage line that is said to be his favorite. Created by award-winning commercial director Augusto de Fraga, the campaign shows how CR7 cannot be separated from his yellow luggage.

“I’m honored to be selected as the brand ambassador of American Tourister,” Ronaldo said in a press release. “As a traveler, I really like this luggage brand and also the active lifestyle it has promoted. I’m glad to work with Augusto de Fraga, and I can’t wait to see my fans’ reaction with the campaign. It’s going to be an exciting year.”

Meanwhile, de Fraga praised Ronaldo for his input during the campaign’s production. “He has a world-class professionalism, dedication and commitment,” de Fraga said in a statement. “His originality in restoring his traveling memory can be seen in the last part.”

Ratih explained that Ronaldo had chosen the luggage line himself. “Curio isn’t a new line, it was already launched in June last year, but it has been successful one. We also launched new colors: golden yellow, denim blue and spicy peach,” she said. (kes)
