Luggage wrapping services are common at airports, but not many travelers decide to use them.
Those who choose not to have their suitcases wrapped usually ask the question, “What for?”
"Luggage wrapping is a tool to avoid theft as thieves will look for easier targets when they try to steal something," said Secure Wrap marketing director Gabriela Farah-Valdespino as quoted by kompas.com.

If the plastic wrap on a suitcase is torn, the plastic will shrink. Valdespino said this would immediately alert the owners that their luggage had been breached as it arrived at the destination airport.
Plastic wrap further works to ensure that no one can place anything inside your suitcase, such as drugs or other prohibited items that may land you in trouble.
In addition to protecting your luggage from scuffs and scratches, the plastic will ensure that any spillage inside – such as from a shampoo bottle or tube of lotion – is contained.
At the airport, plastic wrapping services can be purchased prior to submitting your luggage at the check-in counter. (kes)
