S

coot, Singapore Airline’s low-cost carrier, plans to move its operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of Changi Airport, Singapore, in the final quarter of 2018.

The move is a follow up on a customer survey done by the airline, which mentioned check-in and boarding  as some of the services that passengers had considered in need of improvement. The relocation is seen as the solution as Scoot aims to provide effortless check-in line and a spacious area.

Changi Airport recently started expanding its Terminal 1, which is set to be finished in 2019. The arrival floor will be connected with the first floor of Jewel Changi Airport, known as a lifestyle destination comprising retail outlets, restaurants and a hotel, which will also open next year. The baggage claim area will be extended as well to cater to more flights.

Since April, the airport also has widened its “meeters & greeters hall”.

Meanwhile, Terminal 1 departure hall has completed its renovation, boasting new facilities like a Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) Zone where people can check-in and perform their self-service baggage drop-off using an automatic machine.

Lee Lik Hsin, the CEO of Scoot, is hopeful that the relocation will bring more opportunities.

“Particularly in helping us to cater our growing passengers and fulfill their needs of quick and problem-free pre-flight services,” Hsin said in a statement. (wir/kes)
