tanding by the baggage carousel waiting for the sight of your luggage just after landing might be the least exciting part of traveling.

Despite the overall improvement of airports and airline services regarding luggage handling, bags do go missing from time to time.

Different airports have varying levels of luggage service, so it is recommended to always depend on yourself to avoid any hassle if you miss your bags on the conveyor.

It is highly advised that travelers provide themselves with secure luggage tags with legible information.

These tags should include the owner’s name, email address and phone number, according to Travel and Leisure.

Including your postal address on the tag might come with its downside, as a specific address can lead to the risk of targeted robbery while you are away. However, mentioning the address of the hotel where you are staying will be a tremendous help to the lost-and-found staff in reuniting you with your lost luggage.

If you are afraid that your luggage will be lost during your flight home, you can provide your work address instead of your home.

This information, however, is quite sensitive. Therefore, consider covering the tags so that someone sitting next to you could not read your information at a glance.

Also, when traveling abroad, it is advisable not to attach flag stickers or anything that could identify your nationality.

As a backup, you can take a photo of your luggage and write down specific information about it, such as the dimensions, color and brand, to send to the airline in case your luggage goes missing. (gis/wng)
