Hiking on Mount Rinjani, West Nusa Tenggara, has been temporarily stopped following a flood that impacted one of the climbing posts.
Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, is temporarily closed following a flood on Jan.1.
Mount Rinjani National Park Agency (TNGR) head Dedy Asriadi said that one of the posts on the mountain was inundated by water caused by heavy rain, as reported by Kompas.com.
Though the flooding has subsided, the hiking trails are closed until March 31 for safety reasons.

Dedy said that with an ongoing ecosystem recovery project in the area and an extreme weather warning from the West Lombok Class 1 Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) station, the situation put climbers at risk.
He added that the area would be opened after the condition on certain trails improved. (dpk/wng)
