Recreational spots in Bandung reopening to public

After months of being closed due to the pandemic, several recreational spots have reopened and are ready to welcome back tourists with strict health protocols.

andung, West Java, is one of Jakartans’ favorite gateway for weekends. The provincial capital, which is about a three-hour drive from Jakarta, offers nice weather, an array of recreational spots and a wide array of cuisines. 

After months of being closed due to the pandemic, several recreational spots have reopened and are ready to welcome back tourists with strict health protocols. 

Below is a list of 10 destinations in Bandung that are now open, as compiled by kompas.com.

1. Great Asia Africa 

The recreation complex reopened on June 13 and operates every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All attractions in the complex are ready for visitors, such as the mini zoo and the chocolate factory, as well as a food court featuring dishes from India, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. 

For now, though, visitors are not allowed to view the chocolate-making process in the chocolate factory and can only buy the chocolates.

Visitors can also rent traditional costumes from several countries, including South Korea, India, Japan and the Middle East. 

Great Asia Africa is located on Jl. Raya Lembang-Bandung No. 71, Lembang, West Bandung. An entrance ticket for one person costs Rp 50,000 (US$3.38).

Farmhouse Lembang is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Most visitors like to take pictures at many of its attractions, such as the classic European houses and colorful flowers in the garden area.

Visitors also can rent costumes for selfies.

Located on Jl. Raya Lembang No. 108, Gudangkahuripan, Lembang, West Bandung, Farmhouse charges an entry fee of Rp 30,000.

3. Floating Market Lembang 

Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Floating Market offers boats and paddle boats for visitors to rent. Mini pedicabs are also available, though only one visitor per pedicab is allowed for now.

Other attractions include the Mini City and an outbound facility. Visitors can also rent traditional Japanese costumes.

The entry fee is Rp 30,000 per person.

4. D’Dieuland 

Known for its many colorful spots, D'Dieuland is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.

Visitors can take pictures at the lamp-lit bridges and around the big trees.

Tickets are Rp 15,000 on weekdays and Rp 20,000 on weekends.

D'Dieuland is located in the Punclut recreation area in Lembang, West Bandung.

5. Lereng Anteng

This destination offers a nice ambience for visitors to enjoy coffee surrounded by the beautiful natural scenery of a mountain slope.

It is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays. 

Lereng Anteng is located in the Punclut recreation area in Lembang, West Bandung.

6. Lembang Wonderland

Here, visitors can play in tree houses, run along the tree-fenced tracks and take pictures around flower-shaped lamps.

It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets for adults are Rp 35,000 per person, while children below 80 centimeters in height can enter free of charge.

7. Bougenville Park

At Bougenville Park, visitors can enjoy the gorgeous scenery of ornamental vine plants, take pictures at wooden bridges decorated with colorful bird cages, ride on a flying fox, enjoy the Cigeureuh River and walk around the park on its trekking lane.

Visitors can also stay over at inns in the area, one of which is Mooi Lakehouse, which offers a lake view.

Entry tickets are Rp 35,000 per person and children under 3 years old can enter for free.

The park is located on Jl. Gunung Puntang, Cempaka Mulya Village, Cimaung district, Pangalengan, Bandung.

8. The Lodge Maribaya

The Lodge Maribaya is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy trekking in the middle of the pine forest and drink coffee at The Pines Cafe or they can also rent cute tents and camp at the Camp and Village area.

Other attractions are the Fairy Garden, Herbal and Lotus Garden and the Mulberry Hill where visitors can sip tea while enjoying the surrounding nature.

The entry fee for one person is Rp 75,000, which includes a meal voucher at the Fairy Garden and Lodge Maribaya.

It is located on Jl. Maribaya No. 149/252, Babakan, Gentong, Cibodas, Lembang, West Bandung.

9. Orchid Forest

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Orchid Forest features the Horse Ranch as its main attraction. Visitors can ride horses while enjoying the forest's scenery.

Afterwards, they can enjoy picnics with a package worth Rp 180,000 for four people, which includes picnic equipment and food. 

10. Lembang Park and Zoo

Lembang Park and Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

The zoo has a collection of around 350 species of animals, ranging from birds and mammals to primates and reptiles.

With an entry fee of Rp 50,000, Lembang Park and Zoo is located on Jl. Kolonel Masturi No. 171, Sukajaya, Lembang, West Bandung. (gis/wng)
