P

rivate fuel retailer Shell Indonesia is still in active talks with the government to secure a key import recommendation for this year, as fuel pumps remain empty at a number of its stations across the country.

Shell Indonesia's president director and managing director of mobility, Ingrid Siburian, said the company is continuing to coordinate with authorities in accordance with applicable regulations.

“We are also coordinating with other stakeholders to ensure that various fuel product variants are available again at Shell’s gas station network,” she said in a statement to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Ingrid added that Shell remains open to collaborating with both domestic and international base fuel suppliers, as long as they meet the company’s strict operational safety, economic and quality standards.

While the company has yet to announce when stocks are expected to normalize, she expressed confidence that availability would soon return to meet customer needs.
