ocated around 3,000 to 4,000 kilometers from Indonesia, Sri Lanka is known for its breathtaking natural landscapes and lush jungles.

Earlier this year, the country was named Asia’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination by the 2020 World Travel Awards.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will hold Go on a Couch Safari, a series of livestreaming events from Nov. 4 to 13 that will allow people to see the country’s diverse national parks virtually. Each three-hour tour will feature narrations from wildlife experts, namely Dr. Prithviraj Fernando, Chitral Jayatileka, Srilal Miththapala and Vimukthi Weeratunge.

From Nov. 4 to 5, viewers will be taken to Minneriya National Park in the evening, while on Nov. 8 they will be able to explore Kaudulla National Park from the comfort of their home.

Those who are interested in seeing the various flora and fauna of Udawalawe National Park may want to stream the events on Nov. 9 and 10. In the final days of the event, from Nov. 9 to 13, the livestreams will highlight Yala National Park.

The livestreaming event charges no fee, but viewers need to register online first.

Go on a Couch Safari is organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau of Sri Lankan Ministry of Tourism and Aviation. It intends to appreciate Sri Lanka’s rich natural resources and provide a new way to enjoy the country’s countless wildlife treasures.

“As a wildlife enthusiast, I’m glad that the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has launched a series of popular national parks videos online. They will display the country’s rich biodiversity and remind travelers that nature and wildlife are still thriving amid this challenging time,” said wildlife expert Srilal Miththapala in a statement. “I’m proud to be part of this effort.” (wir/wng)
