Speaking to reporters, Morrison said Australia is working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to provide "nonlethal military equipment and medical supplies to support the people of Ukraine."
ustralian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Friday that the country will send military equipment, medical supplies and financial support, but not weapons, to Ukraine following Russia's invasion.
Speaking to reporters, Morrison said Australia is working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to provide "nonlethal military equipment and medical supplies to support the people of Ukraine."
The government, which earlier ruled out sending troops to Ukraine, will impose further sanctions on Russian lawmakers and oligarchs later in the day, the prime minister added.
Morrison also expressed concern about the "lack of a strong response" from China, calling it "unacceptable" for Beijing to ease trade restrictions with Moscow at a time when the world was seeking to put additional sanctions on Russia for its action against Ukraine.
China on Thursday refrained from describing the Russian attack against Ukraine as an "invasion," while urging other countries including the United States to attempt to prevent the situation from getting out of control.
