P

resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo arrived over the weekend in Germany to hold a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and inaugurate Europe's largest industrial exhibition Hannover Messe.

This year, Indonesia is again the official partner country for Hannover Messe after partnering  previously in 2020 and 2021. Indonesia has picked Making Indonesia 4.0 as its theme at the industrial exhibition for this year.

"My second day in Hannover, Germany. Today I will meet German businesspeople, go to the opening of Hannover Messe and hold a bilateral meeting with the German Chancellor," Jokowi posted on Twitter on Sunday night from his handle @jokowi.

From the participation at Hannover Messe, Indonesia expects to secure Rp 30 trillion (US$2.3 billion) in investment, Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said recently.

"Certainly, we expect that through Hannover Messe there will be more investment coming in, including in the manufacturing sector and especially in renewable energy, as well as in industrial areas or special economic zones," Airlangga said in Hannover on Sunday.

Airlangga said Indonesia would also showcase the progress of infrastructure projects in the planned capital city Nusantara.

"The development of IKN [Nusantara capital city] would be a long-term project and we expect to show a concept as well as investment targets for the IKN as the new smart city in Indonesia," he said.
