team of students from state high school SMAN 28 Jakarta have been named the Grand Prix winners in the II World Cup of Folkore – Veliko Tarnovo 2017.
The competition was held in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria, from May 11 until 20, in parallel with two similar competitions, namely the VIII Bulgarian National Championship of Folkore “Euro Folk 2017” and the XXI Stara Planina Festival “Balkan Folk 2017."
Antara news agency reported that SMAN 28 team performed the Enggang Babalian dance from the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan.

Indonesian ambassador to Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia, Sri Astari Rasjid, who attended the event, shared their thoughts that the team showcased a dynamic performance in singing and dancing.
Prior to winning the World Cup of Folkore, SMAN 28 dance team had also participated in several competitions, including the Sea Sun Festival and Competition in Spain last year.
In addition to SMAN 28, other Indonesian teams that participated in the competition included SMA Al-Azhar Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) Tangerang and Sanggar Seni (Art Studio) Padee Bidjeh Aceh.
SMA Al-Azhar BSD Tangerang was named the second runner up, meanwhile Sanggar Seni Padee Bidjeh Aceh received several awards for the dances they presented, namely Meusare-sare, Rapai Gelang and Saman Gayo. (jes/kes)
