hose longing for a different dining experience when breaking the fast during the holy month can consider these Middle-Eastern restaurants in Jakarta.

Al Nafoura

Decorated with Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern interior features such as textured sandstone walls and terracotta flooring, this fine dining restaurant boasts authentic Lebanese dishes cooked in an open kitchen, so patrons can expect to see shawarma being baked right in front of them. One of its signature dishes is haruf ouzi, braised lamb shank served with rice, assorted nuts and yogurt sauce.

Turkuaz 

Said to be a Turkish jewel in the heart of Jakarta, Turkuaz offers authentic cuisine and desserts. Some of the recommended dishes are lamb shank served with a selection of vegetables, yayla kebab, sis kebab and baklava for dessert. While dining, guests can marvel at the restaurant's atmospheric interior, which is adorned with chandeliers.

Opened just last year, Warung Turki is a Turkuaz branch with a more casual concept, which will attract those seeking to gather with friends and family. Those visiting for the first time are recommended to try the zeytinyagli hummus as an appetizer and doner kebab with a lamb and/or chicken filling as a main course.

The Halal Bro’s

The name may sound familiar or remind you of The Halal Guys, a food cart from New York that serves gyro or chicken on top of rice. The Halal Bro’s offers similar dishes but serves them with a twist, and their food has been adjusted to local tastes. Newcomers are recommended to try the yellow bowl of spicy basmati rice with lettuce, pita bread, cherry tomatoes and sauces on top. You can choose to add lamb, chicken, a mix of both, duck, or falafels.

Larazeta Restaurant & Gallery

Rich in Middle-Eastern ambiance with an eye-catching palatial exterior, this restaurant serves cuisine from countries such as Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Morocco and Turkey, as well as Indonesian food with a touch of the Middle East. Some of the must-tries are the traditionally cooked rice dishes, namely mandi, kabsah, biryani, zurbian and kebuli rice.
