fter wowing South by Southwest (SXSW) festival-goers with their performance back in March, Yogyakarta ska group Shaggydog has released a documentary of their experience taking part in the annual event in Austin, Texas.
The 22-minute Shaggydog Goes SXSW 2016 is available via the Malaria House website.
Martinus Indra Hermawan, general manager of the band's own record label DoggyHouse Records, shared how the documentary follows Shaggydog's journey bringing only a sound engineer, Pak Ting, and a videographer/photographer, Boris from Malaria House. Despite the limited number of personnel, the group had the opportunity to shoot a music video for a single from their latest album, "Rock Da Mic", while strolling the streets of Houston, and connected with world-class producers such as Baauer from "Harlem Shake".

"The band also conducted a crate digging ritual at one of the city's biggest records store, the Waterloo Records, watched the performances of their favorite bands such as NOFX and Mungos Hi-Fi, and tried out the latest and not-yet-released technology," said Martinus in a press release on Wednesday.
Founded in 1997, Shaggydog consists of six members: Heru, Raymond, Lilik, Richard, Yoyo and Bandizt. In SXSW, the band performed twice at Flamingo Cantina on March 17, and the Russian House on March 19.
“To be honest, our second show was more crowded than the first. Some Indonesian citizens in Austin came to see us. After the show, many event organizers also came up to us to ask for our profile,” Heru told The Jakarta Post during an interview prior to the band's departure to US.
