ewly appointed Indonesian Actors Guild (Parfi) chairman Gatot Brajamusti and his wife, Dewi Aminah, were named drug abuse suspects by West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police on Wednesday afternoon.
"GB and DA have been named suspects. The case is being handled by the NTB Police due to the widespread public attention," said NTB Police public relations division head AKBP Tribudi Pangastuti in a press release on Wednesday.
Gatot and Dewi will be charged under Article 112 and/or 127 of the 2009 Narcotics Law, which carries a maximum sentence of either four or 15 years.
Four other people who were detained at the same time on Sunday night, namely singer Reza Artamevia, YY, D and M, have been transferred to Bali to undergo blood tests at the Bali Police forensic lab.
"The status of the other four are still witnesses," said Tribudi, adding that NTB Police would continue to coordinate with the Jakarta Police and National Police headquarters in handling the case, since they had also found evidence in Gatot's house in Jakarta.
Separately, Gatot's lawyer Muhammad Mahdi said he was convinced that his client was a victim. "We respect the ongoing legal process. But of course we will continue to monitor the case since we're convinced our client is a victim in this case," said Mahdi in Mataram. (kes)
