ust in time for Paris Design Week, which opened on Sept. 3, Les Ateliers de Paris has called for international designers to become new residents of its incubator program.
The organization was formed by the City of Paris and dedicates itself to mentoring young professional designers to develop their projects into sustainable businesses.
Les Ateliers de Paris functions not only as an incubator for rising design companies, but also as a counseling center, economic support service for young designers and an exhibition gallery. Françoise Seince, director of Les Ateliers de Paris, said she and her team served to mentor young design professionals.
“We try to find designers with the best talents, those who have projects to be developed, and see if the projects have what it takes to last. The program is not for design school graduates, because when they arrive, they are professionals already. We help these designers find premises in Paris, and [our community] creates a very strong network.”

The two-year program offers more than just mentoring sessions. Upon joining Les Ateliers de Paris, young designers will have their own workspaces or workshops at 30 Faubourg Saint Antoine Street, as well as training, which includes individual evaluations.
The designers will also enjoy significant visibility via gallery exhibitions, open house events and other external events. They will be listed in the alumni network, which will create new opportunities and provide other types of support for their new businesses.
Françoise invited young Indonesian designers to join the ateliers, saying: “This program is open to designers of all nationalities. Something is always being innovated here, so come to Paris because it is a very inspiring city.” (kes)
