Samsung has reportedly postponed the sale of new units of the Galaxy Note7 in South Korea.
The company previously said the new products would be available starting Sept. 28, but now Oct. 1 has been announced as the new sales date. The reason for the postponement was to expedite the recall process of the smartphone's previous units, the batteries of which were prone to catching fire.

"The number of exchanged units might decline sharply if we start the sale of new units on Sept. 28," said Samsung's spokesperson as quoted by tempo.co. "Affected customers will no longer be able to replace their devices via local operators starting Oct. 1, making the process more difficult."
Currently only half, around 20,000, of Galaxy Note7 owners in the country have registered for the replacement program, which has been extended by Samsung to Sept. 30. (kes)
