Traditional music gets a spot at Pekan Raya Indonesia

Besides performances from 1000 bands, Pekan Raya Indonesia (PRI) showcases traditional music concerts.

ekan Raya Indonesia (PRI) or the “Indonesian Fair” is slated to run until Nov. 6 at International Convention Center (ICE) in BSD, Tangerang. Besides performances from 1000 bands, the festival is also showcasing traditional music concerts organized by Tembi Rumah Budaya.

The traditional music performances are held every day at 7:30 p.m. on the Nusantara stage at Nusantara Hall. Among the performers are Horjabuis from North Sumatra, Nusa Tuak from East Nusa Tenggara, Tanmenan Bertiga from West Sumatra, Sanggar Bapontar from North Sulawesi, Gambang Khromong Yudha Asri from Central Java, Saung Angklung Udjo from West Java and Passare Ensemble from South Sulawesi.

“All the groups share the same spirit. Each performer uses traditional music and infuses it into their work," Tembi Rumah Budaya public relations staff member Titin Natalia said in a press release.

“After seeing the shows, hopefully the audiences will have more interest in traditional Indonesian music,” Titin added. (kes)
