S-based ride-hailing app Uber has introduced an upfront fare policy for its UberX service. It previously applied the policy for its UberPOOL and UberMOTOR services.
The upfront fare policy enables users to view their exact fare prior to their ride after they have entered their destination. The fare is based on expected time, distance of the trip, local traffic, as well as the number of Uber riders and drivers available at that moment. When the fare increases due to high demand or peak hours, users will still receive an actual price before the ride instead of an estimated one.

Furthermore, riders are allowed to alter their route, such as by making multiple stops or changing their destination, for which the basic fare, distance and time of the trip will be calculated, while the previous upfront fare will no longer be applicable. In order to execute the alteration, users can open the app, enter their new destination and confirm the change. There will be a notification related to the alteration before and during the trip.
This new service will be available in the latest update of the Uber app. (kes)
