elebrating the 84th birthday of legendary storyteller and puppeteer Suyadi, widely known as Pak Raden, who passed away in 2015 in Jakarta, Google Indonesia has presented a doodle dedicated to him alongside characters from the children's puppet show Si Unyil that he created in the 1980s.
“Thank you for creating joy and inspiring curiosity in children and adults alike,” wrote Google on the Google Doodle page. Suyadi is seen inside a portrait with Si Unyil characters beside him, namely Unyil, Melani, Pak Ogah and Suyadi’s alter-ego Pak Raden.
One of the most popular characters from the show, Pak Raden is portrayed as being grumpy with a thick mustache.

Born in 1932, Suyadi is known for creating children's books and animated films. His last book, Petruk jadi Raja (Petruk Becomes King), was completed in 2008 when he was 76 years old. His popular TV show Si Unyil was aired on the national TV station, TVRI, every Sunday from 1981 to 1993.
Google Indonesia often creates doodles to commemorate special days on the Indonesian calendar, such as the Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge), Sundanese puppet master Asep Sunandar’s birthday, National Batik Day, the anniversary of the Indonesian National Monument and the 2016 Lebaran homecoming. (kes)
