HBO Asia is set to air the hotly anticipated 89th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars.
The awards will be screened live from Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre across numerous screens on TV and mobile devices.
The lead up to the event will begin with the 89th Oscars Nominations that will air live on HBO at 8:18 p.m. on Jan. 24. During this show, Oscar-winning and nominated Academy members including Jennifer Hudson, Brie Larson, Emmanuel Lubezki, Jason Reitman and Ken Watanabe will join Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs to reveal the 24 Oscar award categories to viewers.

Set to be hosted by late-night talk show host, producer and comedian Jimmy Kimmel, the event will be broadcast exclusively Asia-wide on Jan. 27 on HBO. The show will start with the Oscars Red Carpet “Live” from 7 a.m. and the 89th Oscars at 8:30 a.m. Both programs will repeat on the network that same night at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
In the interval between the announcement of the nominations and the actual awards night, HBO will also broadcast a sequence of past Oscar-winning movies on its channels such as Argo, Inglorious Basterds, Big Hero 6, American Sniper and Dreamgirls, to name just a few. (nik/kes)
