he Tomb Raider reboot slated for release on March 16, 2018, has cast Daniel Wu to act alongside Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft on a quest to find her father.
Wu, the star of the martial arts series Into The Badlands, will play a ship captain named Lu Ren, in the upcoming movie, according to Reuters.
The film—an adaptation of the video game of the same name—will be helmed by Norwegian director Roar Uthag.
To contribute to the making of the movie, in 2013 MGM gained rights to the video game and joined forces with Graham King’s GK Films. King, who is also the film's producer, acquired the video game from Square Enix in 2011.

The film will feature a youthful 21-year-old Lara Croft who goes on an expedition in the thick of energizing action sets.
The previous Tomb Raider movie that cashed in US$431 million globally was released by Paramount in 2001 and 2003, respectively. In the feature, the role of Croft as a British archaeologist was played by Angelina Jolie.
The Tomb Raider movie by MGM and GK films will be co-produced by Warner Bros. (nik/kes)
