yocera’s latest innovation provides a solution for greasy phones that go days, months or even years without getting cleaned.
The Japanese-based electronics manufacturer has released rafre KYV40, a soap-and-water-resistant smartphone that will be in stores starting in March in Japan.
In a post on Friday, the firm wrote, “the smartphone is a successor to the original DIGNO rafre, which launched in December 2015 as the world’s first washable smartphone. In addition to resistance against foaming hand soap, the second-generation model possesses resistance to foaming body soap,” as quoted by The Hindu.

Available in pale pink, translucent white and light blue, users can clean their phones under running water. It is resistant to hot water and has a touchscreen that can be used even when the users' hands are wet or while wearing gloves. The handset also comes with a cooking application that enables users to skim through recipes, set timers and answer calls by using hand gestures instead of tapping on the screen.
Other features of the phone include 5-inch HD TFT LCD display, Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM memory, 13-megapixel rear-camera and a 3,000 mAh battery. (nik/kes)
