lmost nine years out from actor Heath Ledger’s untimely death at the age of 28, TV network Spike has announced that it has produced a documentary about the actor’s life.
The trailer of I Am Heath Ledger is composed of personal videos filmed by Ledger himself and clips from Ledger’s filmography, along with interviews with some of the actor’s close friends and collaborators, such as Ben Mendelsohn, Naomi Watts, Ang Lee and Ben Harper.
Obviously an emotional experience, filmmaker Matt Amato says, “[Ledger] wanted fame. And then when he got it, he didn’t want it.”

Known for performances such as Ennis Brokeback Mountain and The Joker in The Dark Knight, Ledger was widely regarded as a gifted actor.
“Even as a supporting actor, he will steal the whole show. That’s the power of Heath Ledger,” says Ang Lee in the trailer.
I Am Heath Ledger, directed by known celebrity documentarist Derik Murray, will premiere in New York City at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, and, the will hit select theaters on May 3 and Spike TV on May 17. (sul/kes)
