he legendary Indonesian band Slank is planning to visit pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in cities across Java during the holy month of Ramadhan.
"Insya Allah [God willing], we want to conduct activities related to religion [during Ramadhan], [such as visiting] pesantren," said the band's drummer Bimo “Bimbim” Setiawan Almachzumi in South Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com.
Among the activities considered by the band include social service, meeting fans, discussions, performances and cheap markets.

“People need to shop during Ramadhan and we want to hold a cheap market,” said bassist Ivanka.
Bimbim said the group members also plan to bring their families along on the trip. Bimbim said he will bring his three children. “It’s a holiday. We usually only play in malls; now we visit pesantren." (mas/kes)
