egendary Indonesian rock band Slank have been named tourism ambassadors by the North Kalimantan provincial administration as part of its efforts to boost the region's tourism sector.
"North Kalimantan needs a boost of energy to overcome our lag in the tourism sector, which is why we need the participation of all elements of the community, including a music group like Slank," said the administration's assistant for economy division Syaiful Herman on Thursday.

According to Antara news agency, the title was announced during the province's 4th anniversary, for which the band held a performance at Lapangan Agathis in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan regency.
In addition to Slank, campursari (traditional songs covered in modern style) singer Didi Kempot was also officially named as a tourism ambassador. (vod/kes)
